Every month, your electric bill goes towards keeping the lights on while building an efficient system and offering innovative customer programs, and with RMLD, it also stays right here in the community. As a not-for-profit, community-owned utility, RMLD serves you, our customers, with lower rates, reliable service, and decisions made by the community. 

Public power means we are stronger together, reinvesting in infrastructure, responding effectively when a storm hits, and working diligently for Reading, North Reading, Wilmington, and Lynnfield Center.  

See RMLD in action at the 2026 RMLD Public Power Week Open House on Thursday, October 8. Meet the crews who keep your power on, learn about energy efficiency programs and rebates, and find out what makes public power different.  

This year's open house will feature family-friendly activities such as face painting, balloon art, caricatures, pumpkin decorating, lineworker demonstrations, touch-a-truck, and more. We hope to see you there!
