Clean Water Action Endorses Carey McDonald: An Environmental Visionary for the 5th Middlesex Senate Seat

BOSTON - Clean Water Action has endorsed Carey McDonald (D-Malden) for State Senate in the 5th Middlesex District.

Climate action and environmental protection are central priorities for the McDonald Campaign, McDonald supports protecting Massachusetts' 2050 climate commitments, expanding access to clean energy, restricting PFAS chemicals, replacing lead service lines to ensure safe drinking water, and investing in climate resilience. McDonald has also proposed policies to lower utility costs through renewable energy expansion while improving public transit options that reduce emissions. Clean Water Action is proud to endorse a candidate committed to advancing environmental protections while building healthier, more sustainable communities.

"I believe it is a human right to have access to a healthy environment,” said McDonald. "In my three terms as a city councilor, I’ve worked closer with Clean Water Action every year through the lead service line removal steering committee, the Youth Action Collaborative, and Malden’s Climate Action Plan.”

Primary election day is September 1, with early voting beginning August 22.
