Downtown Streetscape Project wraps preliminary paving, shifts to sidewalk work

The preliminary paving phase of Reading’s Downtown Streetscape Project is complete. High Street, along with portions of Woburn Street, Washington Street, Haven Street, Green Street, and Chute Street, has now been reclaimed and repaved.

Thank you to our residents, businesses, commuters, and visitors for your patience throughout this phase of construction.

What’s next

Work has shifted to the next phase of the Streetscape project, which means installing new curbing and sidewalks. Crews will continue working in segments throughout the project area to minimize disruptions and maintain access to businesses and properties whenever possible. Each sidewalk work zone is expected to take approximately two and a half weeks to complete before crews move to the next segment.
