Election Day is April 7: key deadlines and voting options

With the Annual Town Election approaching, Reading officials are reminding residents of key dates, deadlines, and voting options ahead of Election Day.

Election information

The Annual Town Election will be held on:

  • Tuesday, April 7, 2026

  • Location: Reading Memorial High School (62 Oakland Road)

  • Polls open: 7:00 am to 8:00 pm

All Election Day voting will take place at the RMHS Fieldhouse only.

Mail-in and absentee voting

For those unable to vote in person on Election Day:

  • Mail-in and absentee ballot requests (by mail): Due by March 31, 2026

  • In-person absentee ballot requests: Available until April 6 at 12:00 pm

In-person early voting

Residents may vote early at Town Hall (16 Lowell Street) during the following dates and times:

  • Monday, March 31: 7:30 am - 5:30 pm

  • Tuesday, April 1: 7:30 am - 7:00 pm

  • Wednesday, April 2: 7:30 pm - 5:30 pm

  • Thursday, April 3: 7:30 am - 5:30 pm

Early voting is only available at Town Hall.

Residents are encouraged to plan ahead and take advantage of early voting or absentee options if they are unable to vote on April 7.
