The Town of Reading has announced that the intersection of High Street, Haven Street, and Chute Street will reopen by October 30. The new raised intersection marks a major milestone in the Downtown Streetscape project.

What drivers should know

Brick sidewalks with granite-edged planting areas lead to a wide gray paved intersection with orange cones, a brick corner building, and a blue sky.

Drivers in the area should use caution, as the intersection's geometry and appearance have changed. The town will place temporary concrete blocks to protect the plaza while the community adjusts to the new design, and it will install permanent decorative bollards in a later phase of the project.

Support local businesses

The town thanked residents for their patience as construction continues and invited the community to celebrate the milestone by visiting the area and patronizing local businesses.

What’s next

Work on sidewalks, traffic signals, street lighting, landscaping, and final paving will continue, with project completion anticipated in 2027.
