A Conversation with Abigail Adams

Step back into Revolutionary America and meet Abigail Adams, portrayed by professional historical interpreter Audrey Stuck-Girard. Learn what daily life was like during the era of the American Revolution through the eyes of one of the nation’s most influential early women. Following the presentation, guests will have the opportunity to ask questions and engage in discussion.

Visitors can also explore artifacts and documents from the Revolutionary period that were used and produced right here in Reading. Tour the new History Alcove at First Congregational Church and view portraits of many of Reading’s early leaders. View portraits of early residents such as Rev. Thomas Haven (Haven Street), first pastor the Reading’s Third Parish beginning in 1770, and Rev. Peter Sanborn (Sanborn Street and Peter Sanborn Place). Members of the Reading Antiquarian Society will be on hand with items from Reading’s past and fascinating insights into local history.

Enjoy period-inspired refreshments while chatting with local history experts and fellow history enthusiasts.
