MassDOT to host virtual public hearing on proposed I-95 Northbound improvements

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation will hold a Virtual Design Public Hearing to present proposed improvements to Interstate 95 Northbound through the communities of Reading, Stoneham, and Wakefield.

The hearing will take place on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 6:30 pm and will provide residents with an opportunity to learn more about the project and share comments with transportation officials.

Project overview

According to MassDOT, the proposed project includes several upgrades designed to improve safety and traffic flow along the corridor, including:

  • Adding additional travel lanes

  • Safety improvements along the roadway

  • Wider shoulders

  • Proposed noise barriers in certain areas

These improvements are intended to enhance transportation reliability while addressing safety concerns along one of the region's major highway corridors.
