ICYMI: Marblehead Independent Endorses Tram Nguyen for Congress
Andover, MA - In case you missed it, The Marblehead Independent has endorsed Tram Nguyen for Congress in the Sixth Congressional race in its first-ever endorsement editorial. The Editorial Board cites in its endorsement that Tram is the best candidate because of her success and experience as a legislator, her legal background, and the grassroots support fueling the campaign.
“The choice is not between a competent candidate and five unprepared ones. It is a judgment about which preparation this district buys with one vote. What Nguyen carries is a lawyer’s view of where the law fails people; the patience to move a remedy through committees and rewrites; colleagues who gave her a gavel and their endorsements; and a campaign funded close to home. No single credential separates her from this field. The combination does.”
The Marblehead Independent editorial also drew a sharp contrast with Nguyen’s chief competitor in the race, former Andover Selectman Dan Koh.
“The most compelling argument against this endorsement is Koh’s: that a district dependent on federal funding needs someone who already knows Washington. We weigh these priorities differently. Familiarity with the Capitol does not equate to legislative competence. And running a strong campaign is not the same as governing.”

Tram was also endorsed today by Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Campbell, and earlier this week Congresswoman Lori Trahan and Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley who are the first members of the Massachusetts delegation to endorse in this race. ABOUT TRAM T. NGUYEN: State Representative Tram Nguyen has overcome tough challenges her entire life. At just five years old, Tram came to the United States as a refugee after her family fled Vietnam’s authoritarian regime with only $100, a few suitcases, and a dream. She has always been a fighter, becoming the first in her family to graduate from college, and as an attorney with the Greater Boston Legal Services standing up for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, veterans, immigrants, low-wage workers, and people with disabilities.
