Lipper-Garabedian Announces Sweeping Endorsement Roundup Ahead of September 1 Primary

Campaign Earns Support from 15 Organizations, Five State Legislators, and 35+ Local Elected Officials Across the 5th Middlesex

MELROSE – State Representative Kate Lipper-Garabedian's campaign for the 5th Middlesex District State Senate seat has earned a wave of endorsements from 15 labor and advocacy organizations, 5 sitting state legislators, and more than 35 local elected officials across Malden, Melrose, Reading, Stoneham, Wakefield, and Winchester.

Lipper-Garabedian has earned the backing of organized labor, including Boston Carmen's Union Local 589, Iron Workers Union Local 7, the Massachusetts & Northern New England Laborers' District Council, LIUNA! Laborers' Local 22, the Massachusetts Nurses Association, and the Massachusetts Organization of State Engineers & Scientists. Her union endorsements extend also to Carpenters Local 339, Carpenters Local 328, Melrose Firefighters Local 1617, and 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East. Her campaign has additionally earned the endorsements of Reproductive Equity Now, the Environmental League of Massachusetts Action Fund, Vote Mama, Mass Retirees, and the Massachusetts Women's Political Caucus.

Lipper-Garabedian has earned the support of the District's full state legislative delegation - outgoing State Senator Jason Lewis and State Representatives Mike Day, Paul Donato, Rich Haggerty, and Steve Ultrino.

In Malden, School Committee Members Michael Drummey and Keith Bernard have lent their support, along with former City Councilor Neal Anderson.

In Melrose, Lipper-Garabedian has earned the endorsements of Mayor Jen Grigoraitis, City Council President Brad Freeman, and Councilors Maya Jamaleddine, Elizabeth Kowal, Ryan Williams, Manjula Karamcheti, John Obremski, Christopher Park, Kimberly Vandiver, and Devin Romanul. She also is supported by School Committee Chair Seamus Kelley, Vice-Chair Matt Hartman, and Members Melissa Holleran, Sheri Leo, and Jennifer Razi-Thomas.

In Reading, Select Board Member Karen Herrick has endorsed Lipper-Garabedian.

In Stoneham, Town Moderator Jeanne Craigie, Select Board Member Ryan Foreman, and School Committee Member Megan Samborski have endorsed her campaign.

In Wakefield, Town Council Chair Jonathan Chines, Vice Chair Stacey Constas, and Councilor John Crisley have announced their support, along with former Town Councilor Bob Vincent; School Committee Chair Kevin Piskadlo; School Committee Members Kevin Fontanella, Pete Davis, Thomas Markham, and Stephen Ingalls; Municipal Gas and Light Commissioner Thomas Boettcher; and Board of Assessors Vice Chair David Ledonne. 

In Winchester, Select Board Chair Anthea Brady, Select Board Members Michael Bettencourt and Bill McGonigle, School Committee Chair Timothy Matthews, School Committee Vice Chair Stefanie Mnayarji, and School Committee Member John Bellaire have endorsed her campaign.

Representative Kate Lipper-Garabedian is a candidate in the Democratic primary for the 5th Middlesex District State Senate seat, which covers Malden, Melrose, Reading, Stoneham, Wakefield, and Winchester (Precincts 1, 2, 3, and 8). The primary is Tuesday, September 1.
