Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Campbell Endorses Tram Nguyen for Congress
Andover, MA - Today, building on a week of cascading support and high-profile endorsements, Tram Nguyen’s campaign for Congress announced the endorsement of Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Campbell.
“Tram Nguyen has never shied away from standing up for what is right, and now more than ever, we need women in leadership who are willing to stand up, speak out, and fight for what is right, even when it isn’t easy or politically convenient. From her time as an attorney fighting for domestic violence survivors, veterans and people with disabilities, to working in the State House to ensure that those who far too often go unheard have a seat at the table, Tram knows what it takes to make sure every person has a fair shot at a better future. I am proud to endorse her and know she will make an excellent Congresswoman for Massachusetts," said Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Campbell.
“I’m incredibly grateful to have the support of Attorney General Andrea Campbell in this important fight for the Sixth District. I am grateful to have worked alongside Andrea on important issues like addressing hate crimes and incidents across Massachusetts and to make sure she has the investigatory and enforcement tools she needs to keep people safe. I have deeply admired Andrea’s work fighting for more protections for our communities, standing up for workers and families, and protecting immigrants like myself who have come here for a chance at a better life,” said Tram Nguyen. “I am honored to have Andrea standing with us and look forward to continuing our work together to ensure everyone has a seat at the table and has their voice heard.”
Earlier this week The Boston Globe endorsed Tram citing that Tram is the best candidate because of her legislative record and her personal story as an immigrant who came to the United States as a political refugee with just $100. You can read the full editorial endorsement here. Tram was also endorsed this week by Congresswoman Lori Trahan and Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley who are the first members of the Massachusetts delegation to endorse in this race. Yesterday, Track AIPAC also announced their endorsement of Tram which you can see here.
In addition, more than 100 of Tram’s colleagues in the State House, city and town leaders, labor organizations throughout the district and state, Progressive Mass, the SEIU State Council and Massachusetts Governor's Councillor Eunice Zeigler who have endorsed her run for Congress.
ABOUT TRAM T. NGUYEN: State Representative Tram Nguyen has overcome tough challenges her entire life. At just five years old, Tram came to the United States as a refugee after her family fled Vietnam’s authoritarian regime with only $100, a few suitcases, and a dream. She has always been a fighter, becoming the first in her family to graduate from college, and as an attorney with the Greater Boston Legal Services standing up for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, veterans, immigrants, low-wage workers, and people with disabilities. In that role, Tram became a member of UAW Local 2320. In 2018, Tram took on a deeply entrenched Republican incumbent and won by ten points, making history as the first Vietnamese American woman elected to public office in Massachusetts. Since then, she has served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives as a bold champion for climate action, affordable housing, workers’ rights, and economic opportunity for all.
