More than 40 Massachusetts State House Colleagues Endorse Tram Nguyen for Congress

Andover, MA – More than 40 Massachusetts state Representatives announced their support for Representative Tram Nguyen for Congress.

The broad range of endorsers represent a cross-section of cities and towns throughout the Commonwealth, showing increasing strength for the campaign among those who know and respect her work most.

“There are show horses and there are workhorses in politics. Tram Nguyen is a workhorse,” said Rep. Aaron Michlewitz, D-Boston, Chair of Ways and Means. “Having served with her in the House, I’ve seen her do the hard, quiet work of building coalitions to get things done. She has been a vital partner in our efforts to strengthen the Commonwealth’s economy and protect our most vulnerable residents. Tram is ready to take that same tenacity to D.C. to fight for more federal investment for the Merrimac Valley and North Shore. I’m honored to stand with my friend and colleague as she takes this next step to serve.”

“As House Chair of the Joint Committee on Transportation, I know how critical it is that we have federal partners who understand our future depends on bold investments in our people and our infrastructure,” said Rep. Jim Arciero, D-Westford. “Tram Nguyen is that leader. She understands that housing, transit, and economic opportunity are all connected. She’s not just a dreamer; she’s a doer who has spent her career fighting for those often overlooked by the system. I trust Tram to represent the 6th District with the same tenacity and heart she has shown every day on Beacon Hill.”

“I have seen firsthand how Tram Nguyen leads with a deep commitment to protecting our planet for future generations,” noted Rep. Christine Barber, D-Somerville. “Tram understands we cannot meet our climate goals without holding major polluters accountable across every sector, or without serious federal investment to modernize our infrastructure. She brings a fresh, detail-oriented approach to environmental justice and climate resiliency, and I am proud to support her in her bid for Congress. She is the effective, green-focused leader the 6th District needs to deliver a sustainable future for the North Shore and Merrimack Valley."

“Having worked with Tram for many years, Tram is a proven leader who gets pragmatic results benefiting working families. She has and continues to stand up for the underserved and underrepresented,” said Rep. Tackey Chan, D-Norfolk. “As Vice Chair of the Asian Caucus and a member of the National Association of Asian and Pacific Islanders Caucus, she is nationally respected for her work on crafting stronger hate crime laws, advocating for all people to be treated under the law and forming coalitions of diverse groups to work to protect victims of crimes. I am honored to endorse Tram for Congress, knowing she will bring that same commitment and expertise to representing the North Shore and Merrimack Valley.”

“I’ve seen firsthand how Tram Nguyen leads with both a sharp mind for policy and a deep heart for people,” said Rep. John Lawn, D- Watertown. “She has been a key partner in safeguarding reproductive healthcare and ensuring that every resident of the Commonwealth can access the services they need. Tram is a serious legislator who knows how to navigate the legislative process to deliver real results, and she has the experience we need to defend our healthcare rights on the federal level. I am proud to stand with her in this race."

“Tram Nguyen is a leader who uses her position to uplift the most vulnerable among us, and bring new voices into the fold,” said Rep. Sam Montaño, D-Suffolk. “She is relentless in her pursuit of building a better world, one in which immigrant families, the LGBTQ+ community, and all those treated as scapegoats are able to not just live with dignity, but thrive in our Commonwealth and country. I'm proud to endorse her for Congress.”

“Tram Nguyen is a friend, a collaborator, and a lifelong public servant, and I could not be prouder to endorse her in her bid for Congress,” said Rep. John Moran, D-Boston. “Here in Massachusetts, we have the opportunity to send bold leaders to Washington who will not only deliver for our Commonwealth but will also push for progress at the federal level. As an LGBTQ+ legislator, we need someone who will stand up for our rights. Tram has the determination, the lived experience, and the track record of allyship and activism that we need to shake up DC, and I'm behind her 100%.”

“I am pleased to wholeheartedly endorse Representative Tram Nguyen in her campaign for the Sixth District Congressional seat,” said Rep. Brian Murray, D-Worcester. “Having served in the Massachusetts legislature with her, I have seen the dedication, intelligence and passion Rep. Nguyen continually puts forth on behalf of her constituents. She will bring that same drive and determination to Washington which, quite frankly, is needed now more than ever.”

“As my friend and colleague at the State House, Tram is truly dedicated to improving the lives of the people she represents and delivering for the people of Massachusetts,” said Rep. Lindsay Sabadosa, D-Northampton. “With Tram, the people of the 6th Congressional will be represented by someone who has not only done the work, but knows their story, because she has lived it too. I know she will continue to be a champion of reproductive rights, a defender of our democratic values, and a bold voice for progress on the national stage, and I am proud to be with her in this race.”

“I am proud to endorse my friend and colleague Tram for this important congressional seat,” said Rep. Susannah Whipps, I-Athol. “Tram’s work ethic and dedication to her constituents is one of her many fantastic qualities. She cares deeply for the people she represents and works every day to make sure their voices are heard.”

ABOUT TRAM T. NGUYEN: State Representative Tram Nguyen has overcome tough challenges her entire life. At just five years old, Tram came to the United States as a refugee after her family fled Vietnam’s authoritarian regime with only $100, a few suitcases, and a dream.

She has always been a fighter, becoming the first in her family to graduate from college, and as an attorney with the Greater Boston Legal Services standing up for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, veterans, immigrants, low-wage workers, and people with disabilities. In that role, Tram became a member of UAW Local 2320.

In 2018, Tram took on a deeply entrenched Republican incumbent and won by ten points, making history as the first Vietnamese American woman elected to public office in Massachusetts. Since then, she has served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives as a bold champion for climate action, affordable housing, workers’ rights, and economic opportunity for all.
