Nighttime roadwork on Lowell Street/Route 129 begins June 15

The Town of Reading has announced that beginning Sunday, June 15, 2025, at 8:00 pm, Cassidy Corp. will start milling and grinding the existing roadway pavement on Lowell Street/Route 129, from Bond Street to Causeway Road. This work is scheduled for overnight hours from 8:00 pm to 5:00 am, weather permitting.

Project timeline and segments

Roadway milling and grinding will occur over several nights and will be split into two primary segments:

  • Segment 1: Lowell Street from Bond Street to approximately 50 feet northwest of the Grove Street/Willow Street intersection.

  • Segment 2: Lowell Street from approximately 50 feet northwest of the Grove Street/Williw Street intersection to Causeway Road.

What residents should expect

  • Delays, detours, and road closures should be expected throughout the project.

  • On-street parking will be prohibited in the work zones and will be strictly enforced by the Reading Police Department.

  • Residents who need to travel during the construction hours should plan for potential delays.

The Town encourages residents to follow all posted signage and instructions from on-site personnel to ensure the safety of drivers, pedestrians, and workers.
