Nomination papers due February 17 for upcoming Reading local election

(1-minute read)

The Reading Town Clerk’s Office is reminding residents that nomination papers for the upcoming Town Election must be submitted for certification no later than Tuesday, February 17, 2026.

Candidates are encouraged to allow sufficient time for the Town Clerk’s Office to review and certify nomination papers ahead of the deadline. Submissions received too close to the deadline may limit the opportunity to address any issues related to signatures or paperwork.

Planning ahead is encouraged

Nomination papers must meet specific signature requirements depending on the office being sought. Prospective candidates are advised to review requirements early to ensure their papers are complete and eligible for certification.

Residents considering a run for office are encouraged to contact the Town Clerk’s Office with any questions about:

  • Offices on the ballot

  • Signature requirements

  • The nomination and certification process
