Poetry by Richard Perry: A Lenten Journey

A Lenten Journey

Living in this hectic world can be a heavy load.

But now we join our Savior on his walk to Calvary’s road.

For three years He traveled with his disciples through the land.

Now, as his journey nears its end, we travel hand in hand

Towards that glorious welcome, within the city gates.

Still, Jesus knows within His heart the suffering that awaits.

Accepting of his Father’s will, He knew he’d be betrayed.

He cried out Abba, take this cup, but God’s plans were made.

At first, the world didn’t understand the meaning of their loss

When on that Friday afternoon, Jesus died upon the cross.

So, on your Lenten journey, thank God each time you pray

Knowing your sins are forgiven, let Him lead your way.
