Poetry by Richard Perry: A Wasted Gift
A Wasted Gift
Our glorious sun keeps it brightly lit;
This tiny blue ball we call Earth.
The home of all life, as we know it.
But what is this gift truly worth?
This beautiful sphere was created by God.
Intended for mankind to share.
But, with the passage of time, I wonder;
How much does mankind really care?
We use up resources in order to live.
To provide for the things that we need.
But how much more are we willing to give
While at the hands of corporate greed?
Those folks who limit what we have to choose.
We must fight if we hope to live on.
For there's only so much mankind can lose.
For if we fail, God’s gift may be gone.
