Poetry by Richard Perry: Broken Ties

Broken Ties

The ties that bind are often broken,

By careless deeds or harsh words spoken.

Resulting in needless pain and strife;

While stealing joy from a person’s life.

Actions that may have been unintended.

Leaving hearts broken, relationships ended.

This is all too sad, but so very real,

Leaving folks searching for ways to heal.

Ending the pain of a relationship lost,

Sadly, all things in life come with a cost.

One that some folks seem unwilling to pay.

Causing pain in those who look for a way

To find the right words, or things they can do

So the broken ties can begin anew.

Getting back to the days once filled with love,

And to the plan set forth by God above.

These steps have to happen; you can’t wait.

Let the wounds heal before it’s too late.
