Poetry by Richard Perry: Cleaning The Closet
Cleaning The Closet
When you delve into the closet of your mind,
You may be amazed by the things you will find.
So many things happen each day that we live,
Sometimes we are asked for more than we give.
But, in faith, we move on as we face each day,
And what we can’t handle, we just file away.
Our brain is amazing with what it can do,
It gives us the power to see all things through.
But, just like a closet, it must be cleaned out,
To free us from worries, from fears, and from doubt.
Sometimes, as you look, you might get a surprise.
You may find something that will open your eyes.
Perhaps a memory from long past years,
Which may bring a smile or perhaps a few tears.
You continue to search to see what you’ll get,
A joy, a sorrow, perhaps a regret.
We all have regrets, things we wish we had done,
Or perhaps we regret having hurt someone.
But we cannot go back; we must carry on.
Remember that joys help the regrets be gone.
So, empty the closet, don’t worry, my friend.
There will come a time when you’ll do it again.
