Poetry by Richard Perry: Laughter

Laughter

Find a reason to laugh, try to get rid of that frown

A laugh will lift your spirits when you’re feeling down

Like the sun clears away the clouds and the rain

Laughter shared with a friend can help soothe their pain

As a band-aid placed on a cut helps the wound heal

Sharing a little chuckle can improve the way you feel

While laughter may not be a cure, it can provide relief

Even for folks who feel they’re drowning in their grief

It’s not rude or out of place if you make them smile

It may relieve the sadness, if for just a little while

Laughter also brings relief when we’re feeling stressed

And if a friend does this for you, you are truly blessed

So, should you have the chance to bring a little smile

To someone who could use a break for a little while

Take a chance, give it a shot, you may be surprised

What you need for success, your God has supplied.
