Poetry by Richard Perry: The Mural

The Mural

For most of my life, I’ve been a lover of art.

Now, a local work has captured my heart.

It took several months for this labor of love

Done by a woman with a gift from above.

No sketches to guide her, with a marker in hand

She created a work that is simply grand.

It really is an incredible feat,

At five feet tall, covering forty feet.

Food items and characters, none the same,

Searching for a match is a challenging game.

You may find a few that give you a laugh

Enjoying breakfast or lunch at Half and Half.

You’ll never forget it once you’ve been there

Dining under the mural in Reading Square.
