Poetry by Richard Perry: Thoughts At Days End

Thoughts At Days End

I watch the horizon where the colors shine bright

As I stand on the shore watching day turn to night

In the rolling waves I can almost hear

Her voice gently whisper, darling I’m here

The years passed slowly since she went away

Still, I know she’s with me all through the day

I’ve written often of sadness and grief

I’ve learned how to use this beautiful gift

To help other folks who feel they’re adrift

Alone in a sea of grief and despair

And feeling quite often, does anyone care?

The pain is quite real, it tears at the heart

Where are the answers, where do I start?

So, each time I write, I take time to pray

And ask God for words to help show the way

For folks to move on through the pain and fears

To know He is with them and feels all their tears

To give them assurance that they can move on.

And love in their heart will never be gone
