Poetry by Tirzah Mason: Seduction
Seduction
Stay away from war I say
Does it bite, you ask
No, it purrs, soft as velvet
Whispers in your ear
The names of all you hate
All the ways you have lost
You bend closer, breath shallow
It knows what you want to do to them
The ones you want to vanquish
Turn to dust or shadows on the wall
Focus on the soft tongue
As it tease its way into your mind
Then sharpens your teeth
And turns you hard as steel
Demands you choose
Your favorite weapon
For the fight you must win
After all, what is war for
If not to feel like a winner?
