About the board

The Board of Library Trustees is an elected six-member board of Reading residents committed to supporting the library’s mission and vision. The board generally meets on the second Monday of each month from 7:00 to 8:30 pm.

Any registered voter in the Town of Reading is eligible to apply. The board is looking for candidates who bring a genuine interest in the library and its role in the community, a readiness to devote time and energy to board duties, and a desire to help guide the library’s future.

The Reading Public Library’s mission is to build community and create connections, connecting all people with opportunities to grow and learn, and providing resources to support a welcoming and engaged community. The library’s core values are education, equity, accountability, and access.
