Reading Lions Club’s Journey for Sight 5k returns for 41st year

(1-minute read)

The Reading Lions Club, in partnership with the Friends of Reading Recreation, is gearing up for the 41st Annual Journey for Sight 5k Road Race and 1-Mile Walk, set for Thursday, July 16, at 6:30 pm. Registration is now open for the family-friendly event, which will wind through central Reading.

For more than 40 years, the race has raised money for eye research, with all proceeds going to the Massachusetts Lions Eye Research Fund (MLERF) and other local sight-related charities supported by the Club. MLERF helps finance basic eye research at renowned institutions, including Mass. Eye and Ear in Boston. Over the years, the Reading Lions Club has donated more than $350,000 in race proceeds to MLERF, and organizers are looking to build on that legacy with this year’s event.

Beyond the run and walk, participants can look forward to a festive evening featuring a DJ, refreshments, pizza, and a raffle sponsored by the event’s sponsors.

Sponsorships are now available to businesses and individuals interested in supporting the cause. Those interested can reach out to info@ReadingLionsClub.org to learn more.

Runners and walkers of all paces are encouraged to lace up and join the Reading Lions and Friends of Reading Recreation for an evening that supports a cause that’s helped countless people see a brighter future.
