Reading Rotary Club awards $11,000 in scholarships

The Reading Rotary proudly recognized eleven outstanding local students with the prestigious Service Above Self Scholarship at its annual Installation and Scholarship Night, held on July 21 at Café Escadrille in Burlington, MA. The evening celebrated youth who exemplify Rotary’s core value of service above self through their volunteerism, leadership, and commitment to their communities.  Reading Rotary awarded a total of $11,000.00 in scholarships at this event.

“These scholarships honor students who go beyond academics and demonstrate a sincere dedication to helping others,” said Amy Walsh, President of the Reading Rotary. “It is a privilege to support their educational journeys and celebrate their community spirit.”

This year’s Service Above Self Scholarship recipients are:

Austin Preparatory School

  • Brianna Ikier – attending Sacred Heart University

  • Colleen Simmons – attending Fairfield University

Malden Catholic High School

  • Devin Melly – attending Saint Anselm College

North Reading High School

  • Ava Araniz – attending Quinnipiac University

  • Hailey Labarge – attending University of Massachusetts Boston

  • Sofia Naulivou – attending Ithaca College

  • Addison Stetson – attending Wentworth Institute of Technology

  • Aniya Taneja – attending University of Massachusetts Amherst

  • Jackson Wesley – attending Providence College

Reading Memorial High School

  • Caitlin Derosa – attending Wesleyan University

  • Jeremiah Sanford – attending Wentworth Institute of Technology

The Reading Rotary’s Service Above Self Scholarship is awarded annually to graduating seniors who have made a meaningful impact through volunteerism and community engagement. The Club remains committed to supporting local youth and fostering a spirit of service in the next generation.
