Reading to celebrate Green Communities Designation with public recognition event

The Town of Reading is proud to announce an upcoming public celebration in honor of its Green Communities Designation, a milestone in the community’s commitment to energy efficiency and sustainability. The Green Communities Designation Recognition Event will be held on Thursday, August 21, at 10:00 am on the Reading Town Common.

The event will feature remarks and participation from several key stakeholders, including Department of Energy Resources Commissioner Elizabeth Mahoney, members of the Reading legislative delegation, the Reading Select Board, various town committees, and Town of Reading employees who contributed to this significant achievement.

The celebration will be recorded by RCTV and made available for public viewing after the event. All members of the public and press are invited and encouraged to attend.

Reading’s Green Communities Designation, awarded through the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources (DOER), acknowledged the town’s ongoing efforts to improve energy efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and transition to clean energy solutions. The designation also makes Reading eligible for grant funding to support future municipal energy initiatives.
