The Town of Reading’s Veterans Services Department invites the community to join in honoring the service and sacrifice of Reading’s veterans at the annual Veterans Day Ceremony, to be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at 11:00 am at Memorial Park.
This important community tradition pays tribute to all who have served, with special recognition for Reading residents who have answered the call of duty across generations.
The ceremony will include opening remarks from Town Manager Matt Kraunelis and Select Board Chair Chris Haley, followed by the reading of the Governor’s Proclamation by Select Board Vice Chair Melissa Murphy. The Reading Memorial High School Choir will perform several patriotic songs, including The National Anthem, God Bless America, and America the Beautiful.
Navy Veteran Father Steven Zukus will serve as a guest speaker, offering remarks on the meaning of service and remembrance. The event will also feature a memorial wreath-laying, the raising of the six service flags, and the solemn playing of TAPS by RMHS Students Finn Johnson-Houlihan and Grant Lewis.
The ceremony will be led by Reading Veterans’ Services Officer Will Valliere, with an invocation and benediction delivered by Chaplain Colonel (Ret.) Laurence Bazer, USA.
Following the ceremony, all attendees are invited to gather for food and refreshments at the Good Samaritan Lodge, accessible via the Linden Street entrance.
Special thanks go to the Reading Memorial High School Choir, whose members - Alana Doroquez, Abby Smith, Flora Messing, Madeline Nelson, Grace Costa, Cassidy Duca, Sachi Selvakumar, Khloe Wasserboehr, Dante DiSerio, Curran Healy, Isaac Olivier-Mason, Dylan Feudo, Jason Walsh, and Ryan Audley - will perform throughout the event.
