Reading’s 2026 Community Gardening Season opens January 1

(1-minute read)

The Town of Reading is pleased to announce that applications and gardener agreements for the 2026 Community Gardening Season will be available beginning January 1, 2026. Whether you are an experienced gardener or planting for the first time, all community members are encouraged to take part in this growing season.

Starting January 1, interested gardeners can access all necessary materials online through the Community Garden webpage.

The Community Garden at Mattera offers residents an opportunity to cultivate their own garden beds, connect with fellow gardeners, and participate in a shared outdoor space that promotes sustainability, education, and community well-being. Plots are assigned on a seasonal basis, and early applications are recommended as space is limited.

The program welcomes gardeners of all skill levels - from beginners eager to learn to seasoned growers ready to expand their harvest. The Community Garden fosters an inclusive, collaborative environment where residents can grow food, flowers, friendships, and a stronger connection to nature.

For questions or concerns, residents may contact the garden coordinators at CommunityGarden@ReadingMA.gov or call 781-942-6616.

The Town looks forward to another vibrant, productive, and community-centered gardening season in 2026.
