Reading's Annual Tree Lighting Celebration

The Reading-North Reading Chamber of Commerce will host the Reading Tree Lighting on the Town Common  on Sunday, November 3 from 2 – 4:30 PM in Downtown Reading.  This celebration includes Santa photos, hayrides and trolley rides, live entertainment, s'mores and more! The event is primarily on Woburn, Main and Haven Streets, and Santa lights the Common at 4:30 that evening. Please come and enjoy!

What to Expect in Reading

  • Santa at Reading Cooperative Bank from 2-4pm (Line up by 3:30)

  • Roaming Performers & Characters

  • Make-your-own s'mores

  • Hot chocolate provided by the Women's League of Reading

  • Trolley rides around the square

  • Hayrides down Haven Street

  • Ice sculptures

  • Reading HS Band

  • Free promotional Tote Bags at Chamber tent (50)

  • Activities at local businesses on Main & Haven Sts

  • Activities and performances at local churches

  • Local food vendors Del Sur and Cupcake City

  • Accepting donations for the Reading Food Pantry at the Chamber tent

  • Santa arrives by firetruck at 4:15

Road & Parking Closures 9am-5pm

  • Lowell St. along Common to Woburn St.

  • Cobblestone area in front of CVS

  • No Parking on Haven St from Main to Atlantic Way/Gould St

  • No Parking in four spaces on Main St from corner of Haven St toward Bunratty’s

Road and Parking Closures 11am-5pm

  • Woburn St from Main St to CVS lot (lot open/ 2-way traffic/no exit to Haven St)

  • Haven St from Main St to Atlantic Way/Gould

  • Sanborn & Linden St from Woburn St to Haven St - 2 way traffic, residents only

  • No parking - Gould St

  • No parking - Ash St. from Washington St to Main St.

  • CVS lot - two-way entrance from Woburn St, no exit to Haven St

Road and Parking Closures 1pm-5pm

  • CVS lot - no entrance, no exit to Haven St

  • Sanborn & Linden Woburn St to Haven St

  • Gould Street from Haven St to Ash St.

  • Ash St from Washington St to Main St.

Residents of Postmark, Ace Flats and other residential buildings on Haven, Sanborn, Linden & Gould streets are advised to move their cars out of resident parking areas to designated parking at the Train Depot. Please also note that Gould Street will be not accessible to incoming traffic from Haven Street.

Parking will be available at Town Hall, Brande Court parking lot, the Depot (no charge on Sundays) and other residential streets that are not closed. Please be courteous of those neighbors and do not block driveways.
