Rep. Tram Nguyen Releases Statement on Bombshell Report Detailing Koh’s Wealth Growing While at White House
Andover, MA - State Representative Tram Nguyen today released the below statement in response to a Salem News article, “Koh's investment portfolio grew during White House job” detailing how Dan Koh’s personal wealth grew significantly through nearly 60 reported stock trades while he served in the Biden administration.
“We need to restore faith in our government by closing the ridiculous loopholes that for too long have allowed the Executive Branch, members of Congress, political appointees, and their families to get rich while in public service," said Nguyen. "Public service is a sacred responsibility to serve the people and causes greater than ourselves, not a get rich scheme for insiders who profit because of access to non-public information while at the same time making the decisions that impact markets, industries, and contracts. Washington is broken. The best way to fix that is with bold leaders who have big ideas who are willing to take on the establishment, as well as the insiders who run it, to defend our democracy.”
Accountability and transparency are deeply important to Tram who led the field of Sixth District candidates in transparency and challenged her opponents to follow her lead by releasing five years of tax returns.
“Trust in government, particularly in this Congress and this White House, is historically low and we need leaders who are willing to earn that back by setting an example and setting a high bar for transparency and openness,” said Nguyen. “My opponents shouldn’t have any trouble meeting this minimum transparency standard, particularly those who are eagerly using their insider connections and personal wealth to fund their campaigns.”
