Three House Leaders Endorse Tram Nguyen for Congress

Andover, MA -  Today, Tram Nguyen’s campaign for Congress announced the endorsement of three key House leadership members, Speaker Pro Tempore Rep. Kate Hogan, Rep. Jack Lewis and Assistant Majority Leader Rep. Alice Peisch.

“In the State House, you quickly learn who is there to make headlines and who is there to make progress. Having served with Tram for years, I’ve seen firsthand how she treats local leaders as true partners in governance,” said Representative Kate Hogan (D-Stow). “I'm endorsing Tram because she has the legislative experience to hit the ground running and a deep, intuitive understanding of the North Shore and Merrimack Valley. She knows her communities because she’s been in the trenches with them, and that makes all the difference when it comes to delivering for the people.”

“Having served alongside Tram in the House, I know she is a champion for every family she represents,” said Representative Jack Lewis (D-Middlesex). “National attacks on the LGBTQ+ community require serious, strategic leaders in Washington who know how to protect our progress. Tram has the legal background, the legislative experience, and the deep compassion needed to safeguard our civil rights and ensure our community thrives. She has my enthusiastic endorsement.”

“Tram Nguyen is a relentless advocate who understands that when we support women and families, our entire economy thrives,” said Representative Alice Peisch (D-Norfolk). “Throughout her time in the House, she has been a champion for reproductive rights, equal pay, and childcare affordability. She knows that hard work is how we deliver tangible progress, and she is exactly the kind of dedicated, bold leader we need representing Massachusetts in Congress.”

More than fifty of Tram’s colleagues in the State House have endorsed her run for Congress, as well as numerous city and town leaders, and six other labor organizations throughout the district and state, Progressive Mass, the SEIU State Council and Massachusetts Governor's Councillor Eunice Zeigler.

ABOUT TRAM T. NGUYEN: State Representative Tram Nguyen has overcome tough challenges her entire life. At just five years old, Tram came to the United States as a refugee after her family fled Vietnam’s authoritarian regime with only $100, a few suitcases, and a dream. She has always been a fighter, becoming the first in her family to graduate from college, and as an attorney with the Greater Boston Legal Services standing up for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, veterans, immigrants, low-wage workers, and people with disabilities. In that role, Tram became a member of UAW Local 2320. In 2018, Tram took on a deeply entrenched Republican incumbent and won by ten points, making history as the first Vietnamese American woman elected to public office in Massachusetts. Since then, she has served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives as a bold champion for climate action, affordable housing, workers’ rights, and economic opportunity for all.
