Town shares override resources ahead of November vote

The Reading Select Board voted on July 28 to place an operational override of $6.5M on the state election ballot for November 3, 2026. Voters will see a single override question, and if it passes, the override would take effect for fiscal year 2028, which begins July 1, 2027.
To help residents prepare, the town has created a webpage dedicated to the override vote, where it will continue posting information as the election approaches.
Ways to learn more and engage with town staff
The town has scheduled a series of outreach and educational events through the summer and fall, giving residents several ways to connect with town staff and ask questions. Some sessions are in person at Town Hall, the Reading Public Library, and Pleasant Street Center; some are virtual webinars; and some offer both. Residents can also email questions at any time to Override@ReadingMA.gov, and registration and connection details for the virtual sessions are posted on the town’s override webpage.
