Trash collection delayed one day due to Memorial Day holiday

Reading residents are reminded that rubbish collection will be delayed by one day this week due to the holiday.

According to the Town’s collection schedule, when a legal holiday interrupts service, all rubbish pickups shift one day later for the remainder of the week.

What residents should know

  • Rubbish collection will occur one day later than your normal pickup day

  • Friday collections will move to Saturday

  • Recycling collections remains on your regularly scheduled day

Residents are encouraged to place rubbish curbside by the usual collection time on their adjusted pick up day.

Holiday collection schedule reminder

The Town’s rubbish schedule operates once per week, with holiday delays affecting the entire collection week on the following holidays:

  • New Year’s Day

  • Martin Luther King Day

  • President’s Day

  • Patriot’s Day

  • Memorial Day

  • Juneteenth National Independence Day

  • Independence Day

  • Labor Day

  • Indigenous Peoples Day

  • Veteran’s Day

  • Thanksgiving Day

  • Christmas Day
