Volunteers invited to help honor veterans ahead of Memorial Day
(2-3 minute read)
The Town of Reading Veterans Services is inviting residents, scouts, and community groups to take part in a long-standing tradition of honoring local veterans ahead of Memorial Day 2026 and America’s 250th birthday.
Volunteers will help place flags and flowers on veterans’ graves at cemeteries throughout Reading, ensuring those who served the country are remembered and recognized.
A tradition of remembrance
Town officials say the annual effort is an important way for the community to come together in gratitude and reflection ahead of the Memorial Day observances.
The event also carries added significance this year as communities across the country prepare to commemorate the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary.
