LtE: Grateful to Serve and Support RCTV’s Future

To the Editor:

I’m honored to have recently been appointed to the Board of Directors of RCTV Studios by the Town of Reading Select Board. I’m proud to support an organization that has long championed local storytelling, civic engagement, and community programming that reflects Reading’s diverse voices — all while maintaining its independent, community-rooted perspective.

For over 30 years, RCTV has empowered residents of all ages and backgrounds through hands-on media training, educational partnerships, and a platform for expression. In an era when many voices still struggle to be heard, RCTV continues to serve as a vital resource — creating space for connection, creativity, and dialogue across differences. Its coverage of local government meetings also plays a key role in promoting transparency and accountability in our town.

As media habits shift, I believe RCTV can continue to lead by expanding its reach through new platforms like streaming and podcasting — without losing sight of its core mission: to provide open access to media tools and platforms that amplify the voices of our entire community. I look forward to supporting that work.

As a Town Meeting Member from Precinct 3, I hold open office hours on the lower floor of the Reading Public Library from 10:00 to 12:00 on the first Saturday of every month. If you’re curious about RCTV or have ideas to share about its future, feel free to stop by!

With appreciation,

Ron Powell
