Low Vision Awareness Month: why eye exams matter

(2-minute read)

February is also Low Vision Awareness Month, highlighting the importance of early detection and routine eye care. Millions of people live with vision loss, and many conditions develop without early symptoms.

Protect your vision

Get regular eye exams

  • Kids ages 3-5: early screening recommended

  • Adults: every 1-2 years

  • People with diabetes or high risk should get yearly exams

Follow healthy vision habits

  • Use the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look 20 feet away for 20 seconds

  • Wear sunglasses with UV400 or 100% UV protection

  • Eat foods that support eye health

  • Ensure adequate vitamins such as A, C, and E

Early detection is key to slowing or preventing serious vision problems.
