Bare Meadow Walk & Talk set for Saturday, Oct. 17

(1-2 minute read)

Residents can spend a fall morning exploring one of Reading’s conservation areas this weekend. The Reading Conservation Commission and the Ipswich River Watershed Association will host a Bare Meadow Walk & Talk on Saturday, October 17, at 10:00 am.

Where to meet

The walk starts at Mattera Cabin (1481 Main Street), where participants should park. From there, the group will head into Bare Meadow Conservation Area and down toward the wetlands.

What to expect

Organizers say the walk will take participants through grassy meadows, hardwood forest, vernal pools, and more. Neil Shea, Restoration Director at the Ipswich River Watershed Association, will join participants and speak about the land’s history, recent restoration efforts, and the conservation area's role in the health of the Ipswich River watershed.

The event is sponsored jointly by the Town of Reading’s Conservation Commission and the Ipswich River Watershed Association. The Conservation Commission describes it as an educational, fun walk-and-talk.
