Poetry by Richard Perry: My Love’s Gift

My Love’s Gift

Since you’ve gone, some days are so long;

But as time has passed, I’ve remained strong.

And now, through my writing, I can see

What an amazing gift you left with me.

 I think of your daily fights with pain

And how your faith in God would remain

So constant and strong through every day

Always trusting Him, never ceasing to pray.

And now, with time, I’ve begun to see

How the strength you had lives on in me.

As my arthritis kicks in when there’s rain;

I think of how you’d say, “It is only pain”

You never gave up and continued to fight,

Even when pain would last through the night.

Thank you, my love, you showed me the way

To get through whatever I face each day.

Now, with each passing day, my path is clear,

My life’s in God’s hands, and you’re always near.
