Cast a line, make a memory

All ages welcome on the shores of Lake Quannapowitt for an evening of casting lines and making memories.

(2-minute read)

Reading Recreation and Elder & Human Services are teaming up once again to bring the community together, this time with fishing rods in hand. The annual intergenerational fishing program returns on Wednesday, June 10th, welcoming participants of all ages to the beautiful shoreline of Lake Quannapowitt for a relaxed evening on the water.

The program is run in partnership with the MassWildlife Angler Education Program, whose instructors will guide participants through everything they need to know: baiting a hook, casting a line, and the patience (and luck) that comes next. All equipment is provided, including rods, tackle, and live bait, so there’s nothing to bring but curiosity and a sense of fun.

The event is designed with connection in mind. Families, friends, and neighbors of different generations are encouraged to come together and share the experience. The kind of slow, rewarding afternoon that tends to stick in the memory long after the fish has swum away.
