The Town of Reading has issued a community alert advising residents of upcoming construction near the intersection of Main Street and Salem Street beginning Monday, June 22, 2026.

The project includes improvements to the area: upgrades to the existing traffic signal at Main and Salem intersection, and the installation of a new pedestrian crossing on Salem Street at Memorial Park.

Work is expected to last one to two weeks and will be scheduled to avoid peak commuting hours. Residents and drivers should nonetheless expect detours and delays in the area for the duration of the project.

The town has not specified an end date at this time. Additional updates will be provided as the project progresses.

For questions, residents are encouraged to contact the Town of Reading Engineering Division at 781-942-9082.
