Jamie Belsito Challenges Candidates Dan Koh and Tram Nguyen to End Deceptive Practice of Redboxing
Both Koh and Nguyen have committed to rejecting corporate PAC money, even as special interests line up behind their campaigns
Topsfield, MA — As millions of dollars from special interests continue to flood the 6th Congressional District race, Democratic candidate Jamie Belsito is challenging Dan Koh and Tram Nguyen to end “redboxing”, a deceptive practice where campaigns publish messaging and send instructions to supportivepolitical action committees (PACs) about what content they should use in their ads, how they should send that material out, and what categories of voters to target. Although both candidates publicly claim to shun corporate PAC money to voters, Koh began redboxing in June, and Nguyen began redboxing in July.
In a video posted to social media platforms today, Belsito spoke directly to the people of MA-6: “I’m sick and tired of politicians not being straight with you…We have enough liars in Congress, we don’t need one more from your district. These people are fighting to represent the ultra-wealthy, and I’m fighting to represent you. I’m here to speak the truth, just like I will in Congress.”
Belsito’s campaign has committed to refusing corporate PAC contributions and prioritizing grassroots support from everyday residents of the 6th district. As a member of Congress, Belsito would be a strong voice for campaign finance reform, including tougher disclosure requirements, stronger enforcement, and a ban on stock trading.
