Rep. Tram Nguyen Releases First Ad: “Little Girl”
Andover, MA - State Representative Tram Nguyen today released her first ad, “Little Girl” highlighting how her experience growing up as a working-class immigrant and record of fighting and defeating MAGA makes her the best choice to fight on behalf of the people of the Sixth Congressional District as Congresswoman.
As Tram says in the newly-released video, “Somewhere a little girl lives in public housing, relies on Medicaid and is scared that her immigrant parents won’t come home… I’m Tram Nguyen and I was that little girl. My parents and I fled Vietnam and worked hard to achieve the American dream. And when that dream came under threat, I ran as a proud progressive and defeated MAGA. Now I’m running for Congress. I approve this message because only in America can that little girl take on a broken system and win.”
The six-figure initial ad buy will run on digital, streaming and cable until Primary Election Day.
“Tram is the progressive champion in this race with the lived experience and record of fighting – and winning – for the people of this district,” said Campaign Manager Annika Jensen. “Tram has shown she won’t shy away from taking bold actions that support and uplift our working families, and her message is resonating with voters across the district. We are excited that more voters will have the chance to hear from Tram on why she is the best choice in this race.”
Nguyen has represented Andover, Boxford, North Andover and Tewksbury in the Massachusetts Legislature since beating a MAGA Republican in 2018. Prior to that, she worked as a staff attorney for Greater Boston Legal Services, fighting for those too often left behind, including survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, veterans, immigrants, low wage workers, and people with disabilities. She is the first in her family to graduate from college and law school.
Last week, Tram released five years of her tax returns, leading the field of Sixth District candidates in transparency and challenging her opponents to follow her lead.
“Taking this step is important to me because I hear all the time how voters in this district are eager to have a candidate not fueled by or beholden to the special interests,” said Nguyen. “My career has been in public service – first to victims and survivors and now to the people of my district and the Commonwealth. I can’t wait to continue that service as a Congresswoman.”
Momentum continues to build for Tram’s campaign for Congress with key endorsements from ProgressiveMass, the SEIU State Council and more than 100 of her colleagues in the State House and city and town leaders, and six other labor organizations throughout the district and state.
ABOUT TRAM T. NGUYEN: State Representative Tram Nguyen has overcome tough challenges her entire life. At just five years old, Tram came to the United States as a refugee after her family fled Vietnam’s authoritarian regime with only $100, a few suitcases, and a dream. She has always been a fighter, becoming the first in her family to graduate from college, and as an attorney with the Greater Boston Legal Services standing up for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, veterans, immigrants, low-wage workers, and people with disabilities. In that role, Tram became a member of UAW Local 2320. In 2018, Tram took on a deeply entrenched Republican incumbent and won by ten points, making history as the first Vietnamese American woman elected to public office in Massachusetts.
