(1-minute read)

Reading voters can meet the three candidates running for the Fifth Middlesex District State Senate seat at an online forum this week. The Chinese Culture Connection will host the event, titled “State Senate Race: Know Your Candidates,” on Wednesday, August 19, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on Zoom.

The Fifth Middlesex District covers Malden, Melrose, Reading, Stoneham, Wakefield, and Winchester. Candidates Kate Lipper-Garabedian, Carey McDonald, and Ryan O’Malley are scheduled to take part.

What to expect

Organizers have built the forum around the theme “Our Community, Our Voices, Our Future,” featuring a live question-and-answer session covering topics such as housing, education funding, and the state budget. The Zoom room opens at 6:00 pm, and the session will offer multilingual subtitles. Registrants receive the meeting link after signing up.
