Overnight fire on Libby Avenue displaces family
(1-minute read)
Just before 2:00 am on Thursday, September 4, Reading Fire crews responded to a reported house fire on Libby Avenue. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy fire conditions at a single-family home. A second alarm was immediately transmitted, bringing in additional resources to assist with the fire attack and conduct searches for potential victims.
Fortunately, the occupants of the home were able to exit safely, and no injuries were reported at the scene. Fire crews worked quickly to bring the blaze under control while protecting neighboring properties.
The Reading Fire Department expressed its gratitude to its mutual aid partners who assisted both at the fire and in covering the community during the incident. Special thanks were extended to Rehab 5, which provided support and recovery services for crews working at the scene.
While the fire was contained, the home suffered significant damage, displacing the family. A GoFundMe fundraiser has been established to support the Angeloni family as they recover from this devastating loss. Community members wishing to help can contribute here.
