Overnight ramp closures at I-95/I-93 interchange starting May 27

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) has announced overnight alternating ramp closures at the I-95/I-93 interchange beginning Wednesday, May 27. Closures run from 11:00 pm to 5:00 am each night, with only one ramp closed at a time. The work is part of a $14.3 million interstate pavement preservation project on I-95 (Route 128) in Woburn, with crews performing milling operations during the overnight hours.
Reading Police & Fire Departments notes that while these closures are located in Woburn, they affect key routes used by many Reading residents and businesses. Commuters should plan accordingly.
Which ramps are affected
Three ramps are subject to alternating overnight closures. Detours will be signed and staffed with law enforcement details.
I-93 southbound → I-95 southbound (Exit 28B)
Continue on I-93 southbound to Exit 28A for I-95 northbound
Take Exit 55B onto I-93 northbound
Immediately take Exit 28B onto I-95 (Route 128) southbound
I-95 southbound → Washington Street (Exit 54)
Take Exit 53 (Route 38)
Go around the traffic circle and take the on-ramp for I-95 northbound
Continue north to Exit 54 for Washington Street
I-95 southbound → Route 38 (Exit 53)
Continue to Exit 52 (Winn Street)
Turn left onto Winn Street and take the on-ramp for I-95 northbound
Continue north and take Exit 53 onto Route 38
