Poetry by Richard Perry: A Worried Mind

A Worried Mind

The bright colors of autumn and clear blue skies,

Greet me in the morning as I open my eyes.

Signs of blessings that are coming my way,

Suddenly, my mind fills with clouds of gray.

Life does have a way of changing the game

While I wish each day could be the same,

I never know when the changes will start

Clouding my mind and troubling my heart.

My life has been blessed in many ways,

But too often I face difficult days.

Days when ambition and desire get lost

Bringing regrets that aren't without cost.

Each day of my life is a precious gift

So, when I feel down, I pray for a lift.

I know God has planned how my life should be

Yet fear and stress sometimes overtake me.

But eventually answers come my way.

And I can move on to a brighter day.

Now, I share this story for folks with these fears

To show they can move through the pain and tears.

Life’s joy is not gone when clouds fill your skies.

Just look up to God, He’ll open your eyes.
