Poetry by Richard Perry: A Writers Tale

A Writers Tale

Words don’t always come easy when I have something to say;

So, quietly, I bow my head, close my eyes, and pray.

Hoping God will whisper the words I’m trying to find;

Then suddenly, the words I seek become clear in my mind.

This is my life, as a writer, using this God-given gift;

Hoping to help others by providing a spiritual lift.

It’s like a rollercoaster ride filled with joy and tears;

But I must continue my journey in the coming years.

Why I have been chosen is something I don’t know;

So, I’ll continue on this path wherever it may go,

Hoping that my writing will somehow bring relief

To folks who are living with the pains of grief.

Still, there is something else I’ve begun to see;

The words I write for others bring relief to me.

And when the work is finished, again I stop and pray

Those who read will understand what I have tried to say.

So the path ahead is clear, and I must stay the course;

Knowing that, though I may write, God is the true source.
