Poetry by Richard Perry: Helping Others

Helping Others

So many words have been written in the hope

That they would bring comfort, help people to cope.

Folks feel such pain and overwhelming sorrow

And wonder how they will make it tomorrow.

Their world has been shaken, a loved one is gone.

How will they survive, can they really move on?

Some days they struggle just to get out of bed,

Afraid of the challenges waiting ahead

In a world so different from the one they’ve known.

How do they handle facing life on their own?

They reach out to God, praying Help me to see,

How do I follow the path now facing me?

It’s a road I have traveled for over five years.

Through days filled with questions and too many tears.

But He gave me the answer late one spring night.

And now I help others with the words that I write.

It’s a journey that I could never foresee

Bringing comfort to others and blessings for me.
