If you've spent any time around RCTV over the past several years, chances are you've crossed paths with Ben, whether behind a camera, in front of one, on stage, or even singing a holiday tune somewhere around town.
Ben's RCTV journey began in the summer of 2019 when he participated in workshops while working on RCTV's original screenplay film, The Mill of Many Mysteries. What started as a summer experience quickly blossomed into a passion. Since then, Ben has immersed himself in countless classes and workshops, gaining hands-on experience and learning the craft of media production from both sides of the camera.
In the fall of 2021, Ben officially became an RCTV intern and has been a familiar and valued part of the station ever since. His creativity, enthusiasm, and willingness to jump into just about any project have made him a true fixture in the RCTV family. Whether assisting with productions, supporting community events, or lending a hand wherever needed, Ben has consistently demonstrated the spirit of community media.
Outside of RCTV, Ben has also made his mark through the Reading Memorial High School Drama program, where he served as president during his senior year. An accomplished vocalist, he has performed with numerous choirs throughout the community, bringing his talents to audiences year-round—and especially during the holiday season.
"Ben embodies everything this scholarship represents," said Angela Merrill, Deputy Executive Director of RCTV. "His passion for storytelling, dedication to learning, and generosity in sharing his talents have made a lasting impact on our organization. We are excited to see where his journey takes him next."
This fall, Ben will attend Emerson College, where he plans to study Film, Television, and Media Arts. RCTV is honored to support him as he takes the next step toward a career in the industry.
Congratulations, Ben! We couldn't be prouder of all you've accomplished and all that lies ahead. This is only the opening scene of what promises to be an incredible story—and we have no doubt we'll be seeing your name in the credits for years to come.
