Poetry by Richard Perry: A Gift Passed On
A Gift Passed On
She wanted so much that I could not give.
Leaving me with regrets as long as I live.
Yet, I still look back on our life with delight;
For when we met, it was love at first sight.
Meeting at church, there was no way to see
The life God had planned for Judi and me.
The pain and suffering she’d have to bear;
And the demands required for her constant care.
Still, between rough times, we had our fun,
We enjoyed all our travels; fun in the sun.
On days when her pain was too hard to bear,
She would just rest and thank God He was there.
A remarkable woman who felt blessed each day;
Thanking God for His blessings when she would pray.
Though I may have regrets and at times feel sad.
I still thank God each day for the life we had.
And as time passes, I'm beginning to see.
The courage my Judi passed on to me.
