Poetry by Richard Perry: In Our Care
In Our Care
The morning air is crisp and clean
And soon we’ll see a changing scene
It’s now that special time of year
When autumn’s colors first appear
We watch the changes every day
As the summer’s green fades away
We see reds here, then yellows there
Soon colors burst forth everywhere
God’s painting with his mighty hand
A masterpiece that’s simply grand
But sadly, it will fade away
Erased by winters skies of grey
Still through this very special time
The scene he’s painted is divine
Creations such a precious gift
Each season gives us thoughts that lift
So, we must always be aware
This gift has been placed in our care.
And every skill must be employed
To see that it is not destroyed
The task we have is very clear
Protect God’s gift while we are here.
